The Drifting Parcel is looking for 6 temporary receivers
漂流邮包正在寻找 6 位临时收件人
The Drifting Parcel is a pilot extension of The Duet of the Exodus.
We are launching a moving parcel, allowing it to travel between different readers, cities, and relationships. Inside the parcel are zines from The Duet of the Exodus. Each temporary receiver will be invited to spend a few days with the parcel after receiving it: to read it, leave a response, make your own zine, put it in the parcel, and then send the parcel on to the next stop.
This is not a creative task that needs to be "completed," and there is no standard answer. You may make a concertina zine, a tiny booklet, a greeting card, or write a poem on a piece of paper and fold it into a paper fortune teller or a paper airplane. You may also choose to participate anonymously. We are not selecting participants based on artistic experience. We care more about whether you are willing to take care of this parcel with attention, and help it continue its journey to the next stop.
We are looking for 6 temporary receivers to take part in this pilot.

What you will do
If selected, you will:
- receive The Drifting Parcel;
- read the materials inside within 5–7 days;
- make a small zine of your own and place it inside the parcel;
- send the parcel to the next stop designated by the project team;
- send us the postage receipt / tracking number;
- scan the WeChat QR code on the card and contact the project team for postage reimbursement.
Postage will be covered by the project team. You do not need to pay for the parcel to continue drifting.
We are looking for people who
- are interested in queer experiences, diaspora, Sinophone contexts, zines, independent publishing, community archives, or intimate forms of reading;
- are willing to take care of the parcel for 5–7 days;
- are able to send the parcel on to the next stop on time;
- are willing to leave some form of response, however short, fragmented, or uncertain it may be;
- respect the privacy of other participants;
- understand that this is a non-commercial, participatory pilot project still in its testing stage.
You do not need to be an artist, writer, researcher, or have any formal creative experience. If you feel this parcel might have something to do with you, you are welcome to apply.
Privacy and public sharing
You may take part with your name, a pseudonym, or anonymously.
Any text, image, voice link, or other response you leave in the parcel may be used by the project team for future non-commercial archives, exhibitions, publications, online pages, social media excerpts, or project reports.
If you do not want any part of your contribution to be shared publicly, please mark it clearly as: private / not for publication. We will respect your choice.
Please do not include other people's real names, contact details, photos, addresses, or other private information without their consent.
How to apply
Please fill in the application form
- Application deadline: August 31st, 2026
- Pilot period: September 2026
- Number of participants: 6 temporary receivers
How we will select
The specific drifting region for this pilot will be decided based on the geographical distribution of applicants.
Because The Drifting Parcel needs to be physically posted from one receiver to the next, we will prioritise regions or continents where there is a stronger concentration of applicants and where the postal route is relatively feasible. In other words, if a particular region has enough suitable applicants, and the cost, timing, and safety of postage are relatively manageable, we may begin the first pilot there.
If you are not selected, it does not mean your application was not good enough, or that your response is not valued. It may simply mean that, for this round, there were not enough applicants in your region to form a complete route, or that cross-regional postage is not yet feasible for the first pilot.
We will keep your application on record. If the project expands to your city, country, or region in the future, we may contact you again.
Thank you for being willing to let this parcel drift towards you.
